Title:
U.S. Navy "Operation High Jump" at Naval Shipyard. The then-new ice-breaker ship, "Burton Island", was fitted with a landing net on the afterdock as a landing pad for helicopter. This was the first trial of the ship and copter in preparation for Admiral Byrd's Antarctic expedition (1947).
