Very rare Bristle Cone Pine (Pinus aristata) cone and needles, found growing in the White Mountains east of Bishop at Schulman Grove U. S. Forest Service Historic Preserve. Needles stay on the branches for over 40 years. "Pine Alpha" tree ring found, date over 4300 years old by Schulman, a dendrologist. (May 12)
