Very rare Santa Lucia Fir (Abies venusta), endemic to the fog belt along the California coast, north from San Luis Obispo. U.S. Forest Service protected area of trees growing on very steep hillsides at Lucia (off Hwy. #1) in July 1966. These trees do not grow anywhere else in the world.
